Offices
The county offices are located at 250 South 8th Street, Burwell, Nebraska.
Offices are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, and 9 a.m. to noon and 1
p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Garfield County is represented by three (3) county commissioners. County
commissioners meet the second Tuesday of the month and the second to last
working day of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Garfield County Courthouse.
Serving under the governing officials are a number of employees and boards.

Administration

– Loup – Wheeler Counties Extension Service
The GLW Extension Service helps put knowledge to work in Garfield County.
The extension service brings reliable research-based information in agriculture,
natural resources, consumer and family economics, community and economic
development, and 4H/youth development. The GLW Extension Service has two
educators and an office manager.

Garfield
County Historical Museum
The Garfield County Historical Museum is designed to show and teach the
history of Garfield County. The museum, built in 1905, was used originally
as a residence, then a church, four-bedroom hospital, and nursing home.
The building was converted into the Garfield County Historical Museum
in 1969. Today, the museum has 25 rooms, including a library, surgery
room, cowboy/indian room, military/Fenner room, parlor, etc. The museum
is open May–October Sundays 2 – 4 p.m., or by appointment
by calling Maralee Hulinsky at 308.346.4089

County Library
The residents of Garfield County are fortunate to have an accessible
library in the Burwell community. In November of 2002 the Friends of the
Library assisted in moving the library from its old location to a newly
renovated building that was bought by the county. The Garfield County
Library has a large selection of both children's and adult books. Story
hour is held every Monday for children in the community and a summer reading
program is also made available during the summer months. Visitors to the
library have access to high-speed and wireless internet and meeting rooms.
The Garfield County Library is open Monday and Wednesday's 2 - 5 p.m.
and 7 - 9 p.m., Friday's 2 - 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. April
- October and Monday and Wednesday's 2:30 - 7:30 p.m., Friday's 2 - 5
p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. November - March. For further information
